For the moment you're in
Energizing breathing.
Not every pattern winds down. Three of Reed's sessions are built to lift, and two of them are vigorous: quick, deliberate, and not for everyone. So this page starts where the others end, with who should check first.

Who should check first
Kapalabhati and Bhastrika are Reed's two vigorous techniques, and they ask more of the body than the slow patterns do. Check with a doctor before you begin if you are pregnant, or have a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, a respiratory condition, epilepsy, or experience panic attacks; that guidance matters double here, because the pace is quick and the push is real. Practise sitting somewhere safe, never while driving or in water, and stop the moment you feel dizzy or unwell. Reed is for general wellbeing; it is not medical advice or treatment.
Where to start
- Energize 4 min
The gentler lift, and the place to begin: short, quick breaths in a steady rhythm, with no force in them. A morning pattern, in the app's Breathwork track. - Kapalabhati 2 min
Short, forceful exhales with a passive inhale. Quick and waking; two minutes by design. - Bhastrika 2 min
The bellows breath: a strong pull in and a strong push out, in equal measure.
Kapalabhati and Bhastrika lift energy quickly, a clean alternative to the afternoon coffee. The check-in at the end matters here as much as anywhere: a lift you can see beats a lift you assume.
Two to four minutes, with a single orb carrying the count. You mark how you feel before and after, and Reed shows you the shift.
Questions
What is the quickest way to lift energy with breath?
Reed's vigorous pair works in two minutes: Kapalabhati drives the exhale, Bhastrika works both halves of the breath. Energize is the gentler four-minute version with no force in it, and it is the better first step.
Are the vigorous techniques safe for everyone?
No. Check with a doctor before you begin if you are pregnant, or have a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, a respiratory condition, epilepsy, or experience panic attacks, and stop the moment you feel dizzy or unwell.
Is there a gentler option?
Yes: Energize, four minutes of short, quick breaths in a steady rhythm with no force. It is the right first step, and for many people the only one needed.
Are these sessions free?
Yes. Every session in Reed is free and unlimited, with no account. Reed Pro adds personal insights on top; it never locks a session.
