A Breathwrk alternative.
Breathwrk is a popular breathing app with strong ratings, and since joining Peloton it is part of a larger fitness platform. Reed is smaller on purpose: nine guided sessions, all free, with a before-and-after check that shows how each one left you. Here is how the two compare, using what each lists on the App Store.

What Breathwrk does well
Breathwrk has a 4.75-star average from more than 18,000 ratings in the United States, and reviewers often mention the range of exercises and how quick the sessions are to start. If you already pay for Peloton, it is included, and it connects to Apple Health.
Why people look elsewhere
Some long-time users have written in reviews that the 2024 redesign removed features they relied on, and others mention slow replies from support or trouble with billing. Reviews are a small, self-selected sample, and each one describes a single person’s experience.
Who Reed suits
Reed is for people who want a short, fixed set of sessions and nothing asking them to come back. There is no account, no streak and no badge. Before each session you mark how you feel on a five-point scale, and afterwards Reed shows the difference. A shift of zero counts as an honest result. Everything stays on your iPhone, and the app runs no analytics.
It is also fully bilingual, so if you practice in Spanish, the sessions, guidance and settings are all written in Spanish from the start.
Reed is for general wellbeing. It is not medical advice or treatment.
Nine guided sessions, a single orb, and your own before-and-after at the end.
Questions
Is Reed a good Breathwrk alternative?
It depends on what you want from the app. Reed suits people who want a short, fixed set of breathing sessions, all free, with no account, no streaks and a before-and-after check on every session. If you want a large, growing library or your Peloton membership already includes Breathwrk, Breathwrk may suit you better.
Is Reed free?

Does Reed need an account?
No. Reed has no account and no sign-up. Your practice history stays on your iPhone.
Is Reed affiliated with Breathwrk or Peloton?
No. Reed is an independent app. Breathwrk and Peloton are trademarks of their owners, and the Breathwrk facts on this page come from its public App Store listing.
